What this study does
The study analyses two short sediment cores with high-resolution geochemical and chronological information to reconstruct recent hydroclimate and temperature variability.
Main finding
Wetter intervals broadly correspond to negative NAO phases and/or reduced solar activity, whereas drier intervals often align with positive NAO conditions and higher solar activity, with some notable exceptions.
When this paper may be useful
- Recent-centuries palaeoclimate in Anatolia
- Lake-sediment calibration against atmospheric circulation
- NAO–hydroclimate comparisons
- High-resolution environmental time series
