What this study does
The study uses sedimentological, geochemical, magnetic and stable-isotope evidence, supported by radiocarbon chronology, to reconstruct hydroclimate and temperature variability from a high-altitude lake archive.
Main finding
The Lake Gölcük record resolves centennial-scale late-Holocene variability and allows comparison with large-scale atmospheric circulation and solar forcing, providing regional context for climate changes since roughly the first millennium CE.
When this paper may be useful
- Late-Holocene climate in southwestern Anatolia
- High-resolution lake-sediment multiproxy studies
- Regional comparison with NAO and solar variability
